Football tourney kicks off

GHARSHANKAR: The 10th Annual Commemorative Football Tournament and an athletics meet, being organised by the Shaheed-E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Football Club commenced at Government Senior Secondary School here on Friday.

The 10th Annual Commemorative Football Tournament and an athletics meet, being organised by the Shaheed-E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Football Club commenced at Government Senior Secondary School here on Friday. The tournament is being held under the patronage of the president of the club, Advocate Jasvir Singh Rai.

SSP Navjot Singh Mahal graced the occasion as the chief guest. Rai talked about the history of the tournament. The SSP congratulated the organisers to organise such events and motivated the participants to play with sportsmanship.

In the opening match, the team of Chak Phulu get the best of Samundra 1-0. In the second match, Simal Mazara village defeated Nawanshahr 5-3. — OC
