Ludhiana, February 7
The police have claimed to arrest five youngsters and seized 15-gram heroin from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar of Talwandi Kalan village, Vinod Kumar of Maskeen Nagar, Upkar Singh and Monu of Ashok Nagar, and Mohamad Saif of Peeru Banda in Salme Tabri area of Ludhiana. The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act against the accused.
As per the information, the accused were arrested by the cops from Fatehpur Gujjran village following a tip-off. Investigating officer Sub-Inspector Jatinder Singh said the police had received secret information about presence of some drug-peddlers in Fatehpur Gujjran village.
“After getting a tip-off, we launched a search operation. The police stopped some youth coming from Talwandi Kalan village towards Ludhiana. During their search, the police recovered15-gram heroin from them. The accused have been arrested”, said the IO.
According to the police, during questioning, the accused confessed that they used to purchase drugs from Bet Area and used to sell it to their clients in Ludhiana. TNS
