The Talwara police finally filed a case today after five days after a shootout took place in the old Talwara town.

Three persons have been booked on the charge of attempt to murder and sections of the Arms Act.

After the crime, attackers had fled to neighbouring Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday evening. It took five days after the shootout for the Talwara police to register the case as the victim, Navjot Singh, alias Rocky, a resident of Ghogra, has came to the senses on Sunday only at a hospital in Jalandhar.

The Talwara police have registered a case against three persons after taking the statement of the victim.

In-charge, Talwara police station, Vikramjit Singh, said the team of the police had visited the Jalandhar hospital where the victim was admitted to, repeatedly after Tuesday to take the statement of Rocky. On Sunday, he gave a statement after which the case was registered.

ASI Satnam Singh, who returned from Jalandhar, said the victim had said in his statement that he was sitting alone in his office in front of the BDPO office in old Talwara town on December 4. At around 4 pm, Harjinder Singh Happy, Sarabjit, alias Kali, a resident of Bishanpur and another youth, whom he could not identify, came to his office. The trio shot 5-6 bullets from their pistols at him and fled. On the basis of the statement of Rocky, the three suspects have been booked under Sections 307 and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
