Uda Aida
Directed by Ksshitij Chaudhary, written by Naresh Kathooria and produced by Rrupaali Gupta, this week’s Punjabi movie release Uda Aida is the heartwarming story of a family living in village and wanting to send their son to study in a convent school in a city. Starring – Tarsem Jassar, Neeru Bajwa, Gurpreet Ghuggi, B. N Sharma and Karamjit Anmol, the movie can safely be compared to Bollywoo’d Hindi Medium, which had a similar theme and also did well at the box-office.
Message driven
The movie was nice, funny and with a message. Everything a movie should be.
Jasjot Kaur, lecturer, home science college
A fun take
It’s a hilarious film, reflects our society where we still chase English and convent schools.
Neet Arora, telecom employee
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga
We already are well aware of the immensely popular and melodious song from Anil Kapoor’s 1942 A Love Story. Well, two decades later the title of the song becomes a title of the film starring Anil Kapoor himself, along with Sonam Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. However, this one is the story of a young woman who must get married at the right age as is the norm in her family. However, there is a secret that she harbours.
Bold subject
An ok type movie. The message is good and the subject is bold. Can be watched.
Jeewan Sharma, engineering student
Trendsetter of sorts
It’s a brave attempt and miles ahead of anything that Bollywood has done on the subject of homosexuality.
Vikram Dhawan, hospitality student
Kaake Da Viyah
Marriage set-ups lead to many a script and comedy of errors in both Bollywood and Pollywood. This week’s another Punjabi release Kaake Da Viyah is a story wherein a guy’s mother and grandmother are up in arms when it comes to his marriage and they want him to get married to girls of their choice, respectively. On top of that, he is already in love with a girl. With this film, also starring Jordan Sandhu, yesteryear actress Preeti Sapru makes a comeback.
For a good time
It’s a typical Punjabi film. Wedding, one- liner punches and the songs are good. A time pass.
Gurman Singh, real estate consultant
What’s the story?
The movie entertains and holds your attention but only in bits and parts. Story doesn’t make sense.
Ina Sethi, homemaker
As told to Manpriya Singh
