The CBI has registered fresh FIRs in connection with its investigations into alleged abuse of children in two shelter homes in Bihar, officials in the agency said.
According to sources, the CBI has registered FIRs against Bhagalpur-based Boys’ Children Home run by Rupam Pragati Samaj Samiti and House Mother Children Home in Gaya. The people involved in the running of these shelter homes have been under the scanner of the probe agency.
The SC had directed the CBI to probe alleged abuse of inmates at 17 shelter homes listed in a study conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), which stated that House Mother of Children Home, Gaya, ill treated children by using abusive language, physical assault, forcing them to write lewd messages and taking to manual labour.
It also found that there were no arrangements for medical treatment, study, recreation and food for the inmates and alleged that the director and other officials were running it in violation of the Juvenile Justice Act. The observations in the TISS report have been included in the FIR. — TNS
