Chandigarh, January 4
Finally, seven fire rescue Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles, which have been biting the dust at the Sector 17 fire station for some time while awaiting a formal launch, were flagged off today.
Officials said the Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles, mounted with water mist and CAF, would ease the firefighting operations in narrow lanes and congested market/public places.
These firefighting bikes could douse solid, liquid and live electrical fire without any failure. The system attached with motorcycles could be easily refilled on the spot with negligible cost. There were two systems installed on a bike. A system contains 10 litre water mist solution. In one word it can be called ‘responder bike’, they added.
Asha Kumari Jaswal, outgoing mayor, flagged off the bikes.
Jitender Yadav, Commissioner; Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner-cum-Chief Fire Officer; Ravi Kant Sharma, Chairman, Fire and Emergency Committee; and councillor Arun Sood were among other councillors present.
