Fill posts of sanitation worker, govt urged

Shimla, June 13

Chairman of the National Safai Karamchari Commission Manhar Valjibhai Zala today directed the government to fill vacant posts of safai karamchari in all municipalities of the state and implement the Prohibition of Employment and Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act strictly.

Zala, who is on a six-day tour to Himachal, today held a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Director General of Police and heads of various departments to discuss and monitor the implementation of schemes and programmes being implemented for safai karamcharis. He also reviewed the implementation of the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013. The state government should constitute a state-level commission to ensureimplementation of the Act, he said. — TNS
