Acting on a tip-off, the Chief Minister flying squad, along with a team of the CID, raided a government godown in Fatehabad town on Wednesday where gunny bags were being drenched by sprinkling water to increase the weight of the bag.
The bag contained 50 kg wheat but on weighing, it was found to be 51 kg to 54 kg. The team also detected underground pipeline which was being used to sprinkle water on the wheat stock in the godown.
An official of the squad, Rajbir Singh, said they had taken an action on a secret information that the gunny bags were being lifted from the government godown after drenching them. Singh said, “We, along with the district inspector, CID, raided the godown. We have started the investigation. The bags were found overweight. The official from the district has been called to measure the moisture content in the grains at the spot,” he said. — TNS
