Srinagar, March 27
National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah, Srinagar seat candidate, on Wednesday made controversial remarks about the Balakot strikes that took place last month as he mocked that “only trees” fell during the air strikes.
“Some say 300 were killed, some say 500 were killed while some say 700 were killed. No one was killed there. You see God’s doing, only trees feel there and now, they have filed a case there that they should be given a compensation for trees,” he said while addressing party workers in Budgam district.
Farooq also questioned the achievements of the IAF strikes inside Pakistan, which had come weeks after the deadly Pulwama attack and brought the two countries to a near-war situation. “They say those who questions are enemies of the country and the Pakistanis.” — TNS
