Farmers given debt waiver letters

Deputy Speaker Ajaib Singh Bhatti on Friday distributed debt waiver certificates to farmers at a function held in Malout. Bhatti said the state government had so far waived the debt of 18,629 farmers in the district, which amounted to Rs 110.61 crore. He further said that farmers’ debt worth Rs 4,500 crore had been waived in the state till date.

While addressing the gathering, Bhatti said, “In this fifth phase, farmers of Muktsar district will get debt waiver for Rs 50.88 crore.”

Malout SDM Gopal Singh was also present.
