Farm varsity VC asks students to keep campus ragging-free

A meeting of the university-level anti-ragging committee was held at CSK, HP Agriculture University, here.

Prof AK Sarial, Vice-Chancellor, chairing the meeting, said the university had a tradition of being a ragging-free campus for the past several years. He asked the students to maintain the tradition. He urged members to initiate measures to prevent ragging at the university.

The VC said according to the legal and statutory requirements, the Students’ Welfare Officer had been designated as the nodal officer of anti-ragging cell and requisite information about anti-ragging activities had been widely publicised, including regular updating on the university website.

The university and college level anti-ragging committees had been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure prevention of any ragging-related incidents on the campus.

Such committees had also been formed at the college and hostel level. While expressing his satisfaction of not getting any adverse feedback about the incidents of ragging, he advised the students to avail all helpline numbers, in case of any need.

Deans of the constituent colleges, students welfare officer, librarian, Joint Director (Information & Public Relations), president, Non-teaching Employees Union and some parents of new students attended the meeting.
