Eyeing Assembly poll, Khattar govt set for mega recruitment

The Manohar Lal Khattar-led government in Haryana is all set to build upon the goodwill it earned through the “fair appointments” by going into a recruitment overdrive to fill vacancies before the Assembly elections later this year.

Sources said while the process of teacher recruitment, set in motion before the Lok Sabha polls were announced, is in progress, the government is likely to shortly advertise nearly 20,000 Group C and D posts, as also those of patwari and junior engineer.

Information available suggests that these posts are likely to be advertised immediately after the model code of conduct is lifted. Buoyed by the public’s positive feedback received by the BJP leaders during the course of campaigning in Haryana on the Khattar government’s “fair recruitment”, the BJP wants to take the exercise forward and reap its benefit in the Assembly elections likely to be held in October this year.

Notwithstanding the brownie points it has earned for the Khattar government, the growing unemployment remains the biggest challenge for the BJP and the Opposition has repeatedly trained its guns on Khattar for being unable to address this concern.

Realising that his government could kill two birds with one stone — reach out to the common man by giving jobs on merit and tackle the menace of unemployment — the government has used the code of conduct period to prepare a blueprint for the recruitment drive.

The BJP is likely to utilise the coming three months to not only conduct examinations and recruitment across departments, but to also consolidate the ongoing schemes.
