Extra classes to help students excel in board examinations

Ahead of Punjab School Education Board examinations, government school teachers in the district have begun with extra classes on Sunday in the school campus.

These classes are being attended by students of government schools appearing in their Class X and XII board examinations beginning March 2019.

The Education Department has been asking teachers to dedicate proper time to students, focusing on their weaker areas. The district education authorities had also formed 17 teams to motivate as well help students, staff with the preparation of the board examinations.

A number of teachers from schools such as Government Senior Secondary School, Mustafabad, Government Senior Secondary School, Verka, Government Senior Secondary School (girls), Putlighar, among others held extra classes at their schools. At certain schools mock tests were also conducted to prepare students properly for the examination.

DEO Salvinder Singh Samra, said, “The entire idea is to help these students perform well, and be ready for the examinations. These classes are being held for all students.”

Earlier, too the teachers had been asked by the authorities’ take extra coaching of students scoring less than 40 per cent marks in examination. Last year, border district had fared poorly in the board examination.
