In order to extend help to the flood hit state of Kerala, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma has called a meeting of NGOs and social organisations at 12 in the noon in the meeting hall in District Administrative Complex on Tuesday.
The DC said the meeting had been called to seek fulsome support and cooperation from the people for this noble cause. He said the marooned state of Kerala needed immediate help from the every countryman.
Sharma also said though the state government had already announced a relief of Rs 10 cr for the flood- ravaged state, but still a lot needed to be done for which people must come forward.
The DC said the district administration and the District Red Cross Society had decided to extend a helping hand for victims of the flood in Kerala. He said after a meeting with NGOs, a dedicated counter would be set up by the administration for receiving the help.
Sharma urged industrialists, social workers and NGOs to come forward in huge number to attend the meeting and support the countrymen in Kerala.
