Ex- MLA Rashid arrested for funding terror

JAMMU:Former lawmaker of J&K Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid was arrested late Friday night in a terror- funding case.

Former lawmaker of J&K Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid was arrested late Friday night in a terror- funding case. The two-time MLA from the Langate Assembly is the first mainstream politician to have been arrested by the NIA in the case. He had recently joined Shah Faesal’s People’s Movement.

Questioned in the case in 2017, he was again summoned earlier this week. Officials said he was unable to give convincing replies to questions.

His name had cropped up during the interrogation of businessman Zahoor Watali, arrested for allegedly supplying money to terror groups and separatists. — TNS
