Ex-minister claims security breach at his residence

Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president and ex-minister Peerzada Mohammad Syed on Friday demanded stepping up of security after two unidentified persons barged into his native house at Damhal, Khushipora, in Anantnag district, on Thursday night.

“Two persons entered our native residence, but the CRPF men stopped them. One person was arrested while the other escaped. Though the arrested person has been reportedly lodged at the Achabal police station for interrogation, we have not yet been told about their motive. The security at our residence should be stepped up. On the contrary, I hear it is being withdrawn. How will we be able to carry out political activities in case we do not have adequate security. It is the responsibility of the government to look into the matter and ensure our security,” Syed told The Tribune.

Meanwhile, the JKPCC expressed concern over the incident and urged the police to expose the motive behind the incident. “The incident took place during the intervening night of June 27 and 28. The alert CRPF personnel deployed at the residence of Peerzada arrested one person. His identity is yet to be disclosed,” the JKPCC statement said.
