Elderly man duped of Rs10,000 at ATM

LUDHIANA: A conman reportedly duped an elderly man of Rs 10,000 at an HDFC Bank ATM booth by exchanging his card with the victim in the Basti Jodewal area.

A conman reportedly duped an elderly man of Rs 10,000 at an HDFC Bank ATM booth by exchanging his card with the victim in the Basti Jodewal area.

In his complaint to the police, Ram Sajivan of Lohara village stated that he had gone to withdraw money from the ATM some days ago. Sajivan told the police that as he does not know how to use ATM machine so, he asked a youth, who had also came to withdraw money, to help him in withdrawing cash.

“I handed over my ATM card to the youth and also told him my password. After the transaction, he handed over money and my ATM card to me and I returned home,” the victim added.

“I learnt at the bank that the youth from whom I had sought help had withdrawn Rs 10,000 extra by using my ATM card,” he further stated. The police have registered a case. — TNS
