Karnal: The wushu team of DAV School, Madhuban, won the overall trophy in the three-day sports competition at DAV School, Panipat. About 5,000 students participated in the under-19 girls championship in different activities. Different schools under the DAV management participated in this competition. Principal Mantoshpal Singh congratulated the students as well as coaches for the excellent performances and wished them the best for their future endeavours.
Pact with Czech varsity
Bhiwani: The Technological Institute of Textile and Sciences (TITS), Bhiwani, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, for collaboration in teaching and research to facilitate interests of students and staff. An international symposium on ‘Recent innovations and development in textile and apparel’ was organised. Speakers from the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, NCSU-Greece and IIT-Delhi shared indepth knowledge. The symposium primarily focused on recent and emerging areas like electronic textiles, nano technology, composite modelling, functional clothing and auxetic and 3-D textile. Prof GK Tyagi, Director, TITS, said the MoU would facilitate students and staff of both institutes and lead to mutual betterment of academics and research.
Lecture on book publishing
Sonepat: Prof Rana Nayar of Panjab University, Chandigarh, delivered lectures on “Translation: new directions and new possibilities” and “How to publish a book” in the refresher course in English at BPS Women University, Khanpur Kalan. He said translation built bridges and language was a cultural product which affected the process of translation. He discussed the nuances and details of publishing a book. Course coordinator Dr Shalini said the course was being attended by 28 participants from all over India.
Pact on research, academia
Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) and National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE), an ICAR research institute, will work together in research and academia. An MoU was signed by Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor, GJUST, and Dr BN Tripathi, Director, NRCE. Professor Kumar said the MoU would provide a platform for research to both institutes in inter-disciplinary areas and students and staff of both institutes would benefit. He said the MoU would cultivate research collaboration among faculty and students of both institutes and researchers could share their knowledge and resources for performing high quality research and developing technologies for human and environmental welfare.
Sports day at school
Ambala: The 18th annual sports day was organised at Asa Ram Senior Secondary School at Kuldeep Nagar. Students from Nursery to Class IX competed in events like sack race, obstacle race, lemon race, partner race and kho-kho. The guests appreciated the efforts of the participants and said sports was like a rejuvenating therapy for all.
Student off to World Cup
Kaithal: Anmol Waraich of Delhi Public School, Kaithal, will take part in the Karate World Cup 2019 to be held in Paris from December 7. He will be a part of the Indian contingent taking part in this competition under the aegis of the Karate Federation. The school management, Principal, staff and students wished him success in the competition and wished that he won laurels for the school and the nation. He had previously represented the country in the Commonwealth Karate Championship held in South Africa.
