HP boy to see landing of Chandrayaan-2

ISRO had conducted a ‘space quiz’ for students from classes VIII to X across the country. School chairman Anupam Agarwal, principal Mukesh Thakur and staff of the school congratulated  Soumil Sharma.

DC addresses students, parents

Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner Harikesh Meena addressed students and their guardians at Government Senior School, Sujanpur, on Tuesday. He said the quality of education could not be improved without community participation. Under the programme ‘Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan’, over 2,000 persons were trained to encourage students and ensure local participation. As many as 275 participants were trained in a workshop at Sujanpur. The DC said the students were also given free coaching for competitive exams.

Dagshai school wins trophy in debate

Army Public School, Dagshai, bagged the winning trophy in the fourth edition of Mohinder Memorial Bilingual Turncoat Debate held on the topic “Abrogation of Section 370 was right” at Pinegrove School, Dharampur. Representatives of various schools spoke vehemently on the issue. Scindia School, Gwalior, finished as runners-up. Lavya Bhasin from Pinegrove School, Solan, got the best speaker award, while the second position was bagged by Shaurya Veer Singh of SelaQui International School, Dehradun. The third best speaker was Shreya Singla of Yadavindra Public School, Mohali. Padma Shri Prof Dr Pushpesh Pant, former professor of international relations at the JNU, Delhi, gave away the prizes.

Poetic symposium in Chamba

A poetic symposium to celebrate the jayanti of noted poet Hazari Prasad Dwivedi was held in Chamba  under the aegis of ‘Kala Srijan Pathshala’, a local NGO. Over 30 young poets participated in the event. Pathshala president Sharat Sharma presided over the symposium based on the theme “Utsav- Ek Sanskritic Virasat”. During the symposium, the poets gave their presentations on the subject “Utsav – Ek Sanskrit Virasat” in very lucid, positive as well as critical way. Popular poet Bhupinder Jasrotia left everyone in splits with his hilarious poems. 

Students plant saplings 

Students of Himachal Pradesh Technical University launched a plantation drive “Each One Plant One” from  Darhui village near Hamirpur. The students planted over 100 saplings near the village. Kulbhushan Chandel, Dean, Academics, said the university had adopted Daruhi village and apart from tree plantation, the university would also organise activities to educate people on issues, including value of water, education, health and cleanliness.
