Director General School Education (DGSE) Prashant Kumar Goyal today said every child in the state should be educated to ensure the overall progress of the country. He was speaking at the Lovely Professional University (LPU).

The DGSE also honoured LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal for his contribution in the field of education with a mission, “Transforming Education, Transforming India.” Around 100 luminaries from diverse fields came together to guide the students, their parents and even the teachers.

DPI (Elementary Schools) Inderjeet Singh and vice-chairman, Punjab School Education Board, Baldev Sachdeva said the responsibilities of teachers have increased. There is a great difference between schooling and education itself considering how the education is being provided, whether it is a city-based school or a village school. In the next five years, private and government schools would play an equal role in imparting education, he said.

A discussion was also held on the Right to Education Bill. The Bill defines that the state must provide free and compulsory education to all children in the age-group of 6 to 14 years.

The panelists shared their individual experiences and urged the students to hone their skills and asked the parents to provide their wards an environment to convert their passion into profession.
