Edu Dept suspends owner of Samarpan Special School

LUDHIANA: Gulshan Kumar, owner of Samarpan Special School, Jamalpur, who was serving with the State Education Department and is currently behind bars for beating up a specially abled child, has been suspended by the department today.

Gulshan Kumar, owner of Samarpan Special School, Jamalpur, who was serving with the State Education Department and is currently behind bars for beating up a specially abled child, has been suspended by the department today.

Gulshan Kumar was running a school for specially abled children and served as an ETT teacher at Government Primary School, Bhama Kalan, Block Mangat 3, simultaneously. He was sent to jail on July 31 after a case was registered against him for beating a specially abled child. The Education Department issued orders of his suspension from July 31 today.

Kuldeep Singh, deputy DEO (Elementary), said: “Gulshan Kumar has been suspended and after he comes out of jail, inquiry will be carried further. Whether he was running the school in his name or in someone else’s and when did he start this NGO, all these facts will be inquired from him once he comes out of jail. The inquiry will be done by the Education Department.”

The incident is of July 31 when an 18-year-old specially abled child was beaten up after being tied to a chair and had suffered a fracture in his leg. It was revealed after seeing the CCTV footage that the child was beaten up by the staff but they claimed that the child had fallen and fractured his leg. A rod had to be inserted in the child’s leg.
