Rohtak, December 9
The state Election Commission has asked Rohtak DC Yash Garg to probe the allegation of a provocative speech delivered by Minister of State for Cooperatives Manish Grover while campaigning for a BJP candidiate here recently.
The EC swung into action after Rohtak mayoral candidate Sita Ram Sachdeva lodged a complaint. The EC has said the words reportedly used by the minister amounted to violation of the model code of conduct.
While campaigning for a BJP candidate from ward 10, Grover had offered guns, money and gunmen to villagers who complained about a rival candidate roaming with a gun.
The DC said the report would be submitted to the State Election Commission soon. Meanwhile, Rohtak SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said a DSP-level officer had been asked to verify the contents of the complaint lodged by Sachdeva against the minister.
