Hisar, January 20

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) gets tough to recover dues from erring power consumers in the second phase of the bill settlement scheme. It plans to disconnect tubewell connections of defaulters if they fail to clear dues. Those with industrial connection will not be spared either.

Surender Kumar, Sub-divisional officer (SDO), DHBVN, told this to erring consumers during a meeting in Narnaund on Saturday.

A senior DHBVN official said the discom had recovered about 43 per cent of dues in the first phase of the scheme that ended on December 31. “The DHBVN extended the deadline till January 31, hoping to intensify the recovery drive. But, it seems defaulters are not taking interest in paying dues,” he said.

“The state government should put a condition of procuring no-dues certificate from power utilities before getting approval for certain works,” the official said. — TNS
