New Delhi, December 13

DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa opposed selection of senior Congress leader Kamal Nath, an accused in 1984 Sikh riot case, for the post of the Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh by AICC president Rahul Gandhi.

Sirsa warned that in case the Congress went ahead with the proposal, Sikhs would protests against the party on a very large scale.

Addressing a press conference here today, Sirsa said that Congress is permanent “enemy” of the Sikh community and Rahul Gandhi is reviving this old relationship of being enemy. First Prime Minister of independent India Jawahar Lal Nehru had started this by arresting sikh leader Tara Singh, then came Indira Gandhi who attacked Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Sri Darbar Sahib. Her son Rajiv Gandhi took it further by deputing his party leaders to kill innocent Sikhs. — TNS
