New Delhi, December 5

The DSGMC president, Manjit Singh GK, may resign from his post during a meeting of the executive committee called by the general secretary tomorrow, sources said.

This was being done on the directions of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. He had reportedly taken the decision to overcome the crisis following the allegations of corruption levelled by the opposition leaders, Gurmeet Singh Shanty, independent member, and Paramjit Singh Sarna, former DSGMC chief, the sources said.

General secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa today circulated a message for the meeting.

The sources said all 15 executive members, including president Manjit Singh GK and general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa, would resign in the meeting for fresh elections to all posts. This was being done a day before the court hearing on a petition filed by Shanty, seeking the registration of an FIR against GK. The hearing is to be held on December 7.

If the committee was dissolved and the court ordered the registration of the FIR, it would not be against the DSGMC. The case would be registered against GK as his name figured in the complaint, the sources said.

Sirsa said something was being done for the betterment of the Sikh body, although he did not confirm the meeting. GK also stayed mum on the issue.
