Drug addict’s body found, kin cry foul

The Goindwal Sahib police today recovered the decomposed body of 18-year-old Arashdip Singh of Suba Warring Singh from Khadoor Sahib. The victim, an addict, was missing since July 22.

The incident has exposed the tall claims of the administration and the police to control drug menace.

Ravinderpal Singh, DSP, Goindwal Sahib, said a report under Section 174 CrPC had been lodged. He said after receiving of the postmortem report, next action would be initiated.

He said Arashdip Singh was an addict and was under treatment from at a Khadoor Sahib hospital. He said that the body could be identified from the clothes. It was not only decomposed, but also eaten by dogs and birds. The officer said the body got decomposed due to hot weather and rain.

The DSP said the body was recovered on the Khadoor Sahib-Verowal road near ITI campus, Khadoor Sahib.

The report has been lodged by the police on the statement of Salwinder Singh, an uncle of the deceased. Jasbir Kaur, mother, suspected that Arashdip Singh might have been murdered.
