Dist BJP leaders remember Jaitley

Jalandhar: The BJP leaders from the district have expressed condolence over the demise of former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday. The party leaders remembered his visits to Jalandhar almost every year during various political events and rallies and his role in strengthening the party. Struggle to prevent breach

Jalandhar: It remained a day-long struggle for the administration, Army and other relief teams to prevent the Dhussi bandh at the Phillaur-Nawanshahr area near Puar and Lasara villages from developing any breach. Officials from the administration, Drainage Department and local youth got about 450 trees in the area felled and threw them in the bundh area to control the flow of the Sutlej river and prevent the damage to the bundh but the entire exercise took hours, a lot of material and efforts to check any further loss.  PAGE 2
