Dengue claimed the life of a 58-year-old woman in Mandi district on Wednesday. The patient was under treatment at the Civil Hospital, Sundernagar, for the past few days, where she died. Kin of the deceased alleged that the patient died due to the negligence of the hospital authorities.

Dhirender Sen, husband of the deceased, has lodged a complaint against the hospital authorities and demanded action against doctors and staff on duty.On the demand of the family, the hospital authority has conducted a post-mortem examination and the report will be submitted soon.

Jeevanad Chauhan, CMO, Mandi, confirmed the report and said the patient had dengue. However, he refuted the allegation of negligence in providing treatment to the patient and said there might be some other reason for her death as she was also suffering from thyroid disease. TNS
