A week after the re-inauguration of the metro bus service under the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), passengers have complained of technical glitches and delays.

Shruti, a daily passenger, said she was waiting for a bus at Albert Chowk, popularly known as Canal Chowk, at about 8.30 am when the ticker displaying the status of the arrival of next bus went off all of a sudden. Thereafter, no bus arrived for nearly 10 minutes. Fearing delay, she boarded an autorickshaw to reach her office.

Under the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project, buses on its longest route from New Amritsar to India Gate came to a sudden halt at 8.30 am on Monday. Passengers had a tough time as they had to switch to other modes of transport.

Another daily passenger, Sukhpreet Singh, said, “There is a tiresome delay at Bhandari railway overbridge (ROB). This is not occasional but a perpetual scenario.”

He said the buses coming from India Gate to the railway link road must be provided access to the loop on the lines of the buses coming from the elevated road which have been got the same to avoid the congested railway overbridge. It will save time of travellers, he said.

BRTS supervisor Harbans Singh said, “There may be some temporary snag. It was for a very short duration.” He said access to the loop for buses coming from India Gate appeared unviable as it was one way road.
