Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, services chiefs visit War Memorial

NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the National War Memorial at India Gate on Saturday morning. He was accompanied by the Chief of Army, the Chief of Air Force and the Navy Chief.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the National War Memorial at India Gate on Saturday morning. 

He was accompanied by the Chief of Army, General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa and Navy Chief, Admiral Karambir Singh. Also present was Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra.

Later, Singh took charge as the Defence Minister and immediately held a meeting with the top military brass.

Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik, Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra and top officials of the ministry accorded a warm welcome to Singh.

Singh had earlier tweeted about his visit, saying that before assuming charge as Defence Minister he wanted to “pay tributes to our brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.”
