Rohtak, April 22
Deepender Singh Hooda on Monday filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate from Rohtak constituency for the fourth time.
He filed his papers after performing a 'havan' and roadshow. Local Congress leaders and workers owing allegiance to other factions participated in the roadshow and attended a public meeting thereafter.
Seeking votes in the name of peace and progress, he said keeping social harmony intact woud be his main focus.
He promised an airport in Meham and extension of Metro rail to Rohtak, Kharkhauda and Jhajjar. He exhorted people to oust the “divisive” BJP regime.
Addressing a gathering after the roadshow, Deepender’s father and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda appealed to people to support his son as leaders of many parties were trying to attack him. He promised to waive loans of farmers and provide Rs 72,000 per year to every poor family if the Congress came to power at the Centre.
Congress MLAs Raghubir Kadyan, Kuldeep Sharma, and Geeta Bhukkal and other Congress leaders were present.
