Deceased inmate’s kin untraceable

Jail authorities are unable to establish contact with the family of a jail inmate, who died on jail premises two days ago. Identified as Ram Anand, his body has been kept in the mortuary for the time being.

Ram Anand was serving life imprisonment in connection with a murder case. According to jail authorities, he hailed from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. He living in Jasraur village, falling under the Bhindi Saida police station here, at the time of his arrest.

Jail authorities said they sent a team to Jasraur village, but it neither found his residence nor his family members.

“For the time being, his body has been kept in the Civil Hospital’s mortuary. It will be cremated if no claimant turns up,” said Arshdeep Singh Gill, Superintendent Jail.
