Kin protest, allege police inaction

Alleging police inaction, kin of 26-year-old youth, who died allegedly due to drowning in Tikkar Taal in Morni, Panchkula, staged a dharna outside the Mini-Secretariat in Naraingarh on Wednesday.

According to information, Charanjeet, a resident of Shahzadpur, along with Raman, Golu, Shubham and Dharam Singh, had gone to Panchkula on May 20 last year. Later, Charanjeet was found dead. The family was told that Charanjeet had died due to drowning.

The kin alleged that Charanjeet was murdered and the suspects, in this case, are yet to be arrested by the police. The family also claimed that his friends had allegedly fled away after leaving his body at the hospital.

A zero FIR was registered under Sections 364, 306 and 120b of the IPC at the Chandimandir police station. Later, it was transferred to the Shahzadpur police station.

Biru Ram, deceased’s father, said “It has been nine months since Charanjeet died, but the suspects are yet to be arrested by the police”. The family alleged that the police have not been arresting the accused and properly investigating the case.

DSP Naraingarh Amit Kumar assured the family members that the matter is being investigated and the viscera report is yet to arrive.

The family members demanded that the suspect must be arrested soon and the mobile phone and clothes of Charanjeet should be handed over to the family. The family members said they would continue to stage dharna until the suspects are arrested. TNS
