DC flags off voter awareness van

LUDHIANA: Aiming to sensitise residents on the importance of the Right to Vote and motivate them to actively participate in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, a voter awareness van was flagged off by District Election Officer Pradeep Kumar Agrawal from District Administrative Complex, here today.

Ludhiana, April 16

Aiming to sensitise residents on the importance of the Right to Vote and motivate them to actively participate in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, a voter awareness van was flagged off by District Election Officer Pradeep Kumar Agrawal from District Administrative Complex, here today. This van has been deputed in Ludhiana district for four days by the Election Commission of India.

While providing details about the van, District Election Officer Pradeep Kumar Agrawal stated that the van would create awareness among people about their voting rights given by the constitution.

He said the van was fitted with an audio-video system which would cover the areas falling in various Vidhan Sabha constituencies of district Ludhiana and would spread the message of ethical voting to the masses.

He said the van would stay in Ludhiana from April 16 to 19. On April 16, the van visited Feroze Gandhi Market, Ansal Plaza, MBD Mall, Rishi Nagar, Ghumar Mandi, PAU and BRS Nagar.

Similarly, on April 17, it would visit the main bus stand, engine shed, Atam Nagar, Model Town Extension, GNE College and Vishwakarma Chowk, on April 18 at Sherpur Kalan, Dhandari Kalan, Giaspura, Daba, Lohara, Kot Mangal Singh, New Shimlapuri and Dholewal and on April 19 at Bus Stand Bija, Dana Mandi Khanna, Jarg Chowk Khanna, Books Market, Sanskrit College and Tehsil Complex Khanna (all in Khanna Vidhan Sabha constituency).

He stated that some more vans would also be reaching the Ludhiana shortly and would cover other areas too. He said those who had not still registered as voters could apply for the vote till April 19 and can become active partners in the democratic system.

ADC (General) Iqbal Singh Sandhu, ADC (Jagraon) Neeru Katyal Gupta, ADC Khanna Jaspal Singh Gill and other officials were present on this occasion.
