Jalandhar, August 2

Appealing people to join a mass movement against drugs by ensuring their participation during a mini- marathon with the theme ‘Jalandhar runs against drugs’ on August 4, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said, “Realising the gravity of the situation, residents, parents, victims, survivors, rehabilitated drug addicts and the district administration have to come together to cut the supply chain and motivate the youth to shun drugs”.

Releasing T-shirts designed specially for the mini-marathon, the DC said the marathon aims at sensitising people and generating awareness among them regarding the ‘Tandarust Punjab mission’ launched by the state government for a healthy and drug- free society.

He said, “The district administration has been making concerted efforts for checking the menace, but all those initiatives can fructify only if people of the city come forward to eliminate this curse. The marathon is an attempt by the administration to ensure maximum public participation in the campaign against drugs.”
