A group of 10 Chinese fishers have been taking shelter along the Indian coast because of the Cyclone Vayu.

Two Chinese trawlers FU Yuan Yu 059 and FU Yuan Yu 61 have requested for shelter and assistance for machinery repairs at Dabhol on June 6. 

Subsequently, on June 11 another request was received from eight Chinese fishing vessels to take shelter off Dhabol along the Maharashtra coast in view prevalent weather sea conditions due to Cyclone Vayu, sources said. 

The 10 vessels were allowed to take shelter close to the Indian coast on humanitarian grounds, post checks by the Indian Coast Guard, Marine Police and Custom authorities.

The vessels were fishing in central Arabian Sea since December 2018.
