The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Faridkot police, which has been investigating the death of 22-year-old Jaspal Singh in custody, on Thursday got production warrant of Roshan Singh, who is lodged in the Bathinda Central Jail.
SIT checked the mobile phone call record of Jaspal and found that Roshan is a frequent caller.
As Roshan is involved in many criminal cases in Moga and Bathinda area, SIT believes that he will provide some clues and leads in the case, which has kept the police and administration on their toes for the past over two weeks.
Besides, the name of Roshan also came up prominently in the 15-minutes purported video of Ranbir Singh, the prime accused in this case, which went viral in the area on Thursday.
Though as many as 16 teams of the Faridkot police have been looking for Ranbir for the past one week, the latter surfaced on Thursday through a social media platform, narrating his side of story about his “sweet to sour” relations with Jaspal Singh.
Jaspal was allegedly a friend of the step daughter of Ranbir Singh. Three months ago, this girl's widowed mother got married to Ranbir. On his complaint, the Crime Investigation Wing of the Faridkot police had picked up Jaspal from a gurdwara on the intervening night of May 18 and 19.
Sources in the police department said Roshan was arrested by the the Moga police in a snatching case some time ago and later, the Bathinda police had got his custody on production warrant in connection with a murder case. Now, he is in custody of the Faridkot police.
Mobile phone call record checked
SIT checked the mobile phone call record of Jaspal and found that Roshan Singh is a frequent caller. As Roshan is involved in many criminal cases in Moga and Bathinda area, the SIT believes that he will provide some clues and leads in the case, which has kept the police and administration on their toes for the past over two weeks.
