Ludhiana, February 18

The court of Judicial Magistrate Ankit Airi has allowed the application moved by the police seeking permission to conduct a DNA test of three accused in the gang-rape case.

The police had asked for a DNA test of accused Sadiq Ali, Jagroop Singh and Surmo. The application was moved on February 16 and they were produced before the court amid heavy security to avoid any untoward incident. The police have also moved an application to conduct the identification parade of the accused.

Earlier, Akali Dal activists hurled shoes upon them when they were produced in the court for the first time.

Sources said the vaginal swabs of the victim had already been deposited with the Forensic Science Laboratory, Mohali. The hearing in the case is on February 20.
