Eye check-up camp

The Punarjot Eye Bank Society organised an eye checkup camp at Mohi village in collaboration with the Nnagar Panchayat. A team of Dr Ramesh, an eye specialist, examined around 150 patients. The patients were given medicines free of cost. Twelve patients will undergo surgeries.

Meeting held

Use the best material for long lasting buildings. This was stated by an architect, Ravinder Khosla, chairperson of the Ludhiana Architects Association (LLA), at a meeting sponsored by Century Plywood Ltd. for the launch a catalogue of natural veneers. President of the LAA Vikas Sharma said the use of veneer mica and plywood give a different look to buildings.

Stir threatened

A meeting of the Punjab State Karamchari Dal was held at Chatar Singh Park. Hari Singh Tohra, state president, said the state government was not paying any attention towards the fulfilment of long-pending demands of workers. He said a DA installement was pending, many workers were yet to be regularised and staff had not been granted technical scale. The leaders said if their demands were not met by the government, the association will resort to an agitation.

Ration distributed

The 70th ration distribution programme, organised by the Akhil Bhartiya Samaj Sewa Society, was held at Swami Ved Bharti Ashram, Shivpuri, here on Sunday. Chairman of the society Ahmed Ali Guddu and Dimple Rana were also present on the occasion. They appreciated the efforts made by the society for the uplift of the poor and needy.

Morcha slams Congress

General secretary of the local unit of the BJP SC Morcha Ramesh Ratan said only the BJP had given due respect to Dr BR Ambedkar while the other parties, including the Congress, had just used his name for the sake of vote bank. He stated this while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a function organised by the Zila Valimiki Sabha at Sita Mata Mandir to pay tributes to Dr Ambdekar on Amedkar Jayanti. — TNS
