Panchkula, January 12
The Haryana Urban Local Bodies Department has appointed two more members to the inquiry committee looking into allegations of irregularities in the construction of eight roundabouts in the city. The panel is headed by technical advisor Vishal Seth.
Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain has appointed Raman Sharma, Chief Engineer, Karnal, and Ramesh Chand, Superintending Engineer, Ambala, to the panel.
Welcoming the appointments, contractor Sandeep Sharma demanded that the inquiry into the allegations should not be conducted by Vishal Seth as he was known to the complainant. He said Seth was issuing statements again and again that he had completed the investigation within a week against the time limit of 15 days.
He suspected that Seth might have prepared a one-sided report as he was known to the complainant, who was a Congress leader.
However, Vishal Seth said he had completed the investigation and prepared a report. He added that during the probe, irregularities were found in horticulture and electrical works.
Seth said he had already directed his staff to compile a report in this regard, which would be submitted to the minister on Monday.
The Panchkula Municipal Corporation has also set up a committee to probe the issue. Committee members were checking documents to find out those responsible for the irregularities, if any.
