Jammu, November 1

Former Sadr-e-Riyasat of erstwhile J&K state and senior Congress leader Karan Singh has condemned the recent brutal killing of non-local labourers and truck drivers who were in the Valley to help the people of Kashmir.

In a statement, Singh has said, “It is ironical that drivers from around the country who are helping to transport the apple have been targeted and their trucks set ablaze”.

Singh said this showed that perpetrators of these crimes were least concerned about the welfare of the Kashmiris who had already suffered heavy losses due to collapse of the tourism sector since August. “I urge the government to take all necessary steps to ensure security of the apple transporting goods and also bring criminals to book as soon as possible”, says the statement.
