Shimla, August 20
The Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) has reiterated its demand for early implementation of the revised UGC pay scales. The scales will be released from January 1, 2016, and have been implemented in universities and higher educational institutions under the Centre, several state governments and autonomous institutions.
The Punjab Government has not implemented the scales and being linked with Punjab in the matter of pay scales, Himachal teachers are now demanding for their release without waiting for Punjab.
The HGCTA, which met here on Monday, again discussed the issue. However, there are no indications that the government would implement the scales.
The teachers are getting restive as there is no visible discontent among their counterparts in Punjab.
The union also decided to dissolve the state executive and the secretary and treasurer would continue to function on ad hoc basis till the fresh elections were held. Prof Chandrabhan Mehta, principal, government college, Sanjauli, has been appointed the returning officer for the elections.
