Cultural fiesta welcomes freshers

Kamla Lohtia SD College organised a freshers’ party to welcome the new students of BCom and BBA classes. A cultural extravaganza comprising dances, skits, modelling and fun games made the occasion festive.

MCom Semester-II results

Students of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, have excelled in MCom Semester-II examination, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Pragya Jain bagged first position in college and seventh in the university by securing 83.35 per cent. Priyanka Mittal and Ruchita Jain secured second and third position in the college with 81.28 per cent and 80.92 per cent, respectively. A total of 38 students have secured first division and 33 students have passed with distinction.

Students take part in literary fest

English literary society of the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organised a literary week, during which a creative writing competition on “Letter it out” was conducted on the first day. A play, The School for Scandal, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, followed by a theatre workshop conducted by a theatre personality Ankur Sharma, Assisstant Professor at Doaba College, Jalandhar was staged. On the third day, a creative art contest was held.

CT University holds Int’l Conference  

CT University organised a two-day International Multidisciplinary Academic Research Conference (IMARC 2019). The conference covered disciplines of engineering, management, architecture, law, pharmacy, natural sciences, agriculture, design, humanities and media. Speakers from across the world presented their papers. The keynote speakers were Chithirai Pon Selvan from Curtin University, Dubai; Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, Primeasia University, Bangladesh; Ravindhar Vadapalli from FinTech, the United Arab Emirates; Ahsanul Haq, president, Jalandhar Management Association; Vinod K Pandita, founder and CEO, Perception Management Consulting Private Limited, Gurgaon; Rizwan A Thakur, King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia; and Prof David Asirvatham, executive dean of faculty of innovation and technology, Taylor’’s University, Malaysia.

Students sensitised on traffic rules

Government Science College, Jagraon, organised a lecture on the road safety rules by Sukhdev Singh, ASI, traffic police, Jagraon. He spoke on causes of accidents, safety measures to be taken while driving and introduced them to the new Motor Vehicle Act.

15 take part in Hindi declamation 

The department of Hindi and Sanskrit of Arya College Girls organised a ‘Vedik Bhashan Pratiyogita’ to students an opportunity to showcase their speaking skills. Around 15 students took part in this competition.

50 MBBS teams play Ophthalmic Quiz 

The department of ophthalmology, Christian Medical College, organised its 15th annual ophthalmic quiz for students. Among the 50 undergraduate MBBS teams, five teams had qualified for the quiz following a preliminary round. Dr Nitin Batra and Dr Anubhav Baveja conducted the finals. TNS

RIMT holds national conference 

Mandi Gobindgarh: RIMT University organised its third national conference on “Research, innovation and sustainable development”, in which more than 200 researchers participated. SS Johl, Chancellor, Central University, Bathinda, was the chief guest of the occasion. Johl shared the importance of sustainable development in today’s competitive business environment and support available from various government bodies for such innovative business models. Six technical sessions were held during which 74 research papers were presented by authors who had come from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bhopal. 

Lecture on water conservation 

Khanna: As per the instructions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Jal Shakti Abhiyan was observed from September 1 to 15. Gobindgarh Public College, Alour, organised a lecture on water conservation for volunteers of the NCC and the NSS. Principal Neena Seth Pajni addressed the students talked about the causes of water table depletion and its present status in Punjab. A total of 130 students were present during the lecture. OC
