Ludhiana: GGN Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines, organised a fun- filled cultural event to celebrate Basant Panchami. Students came in yellow attire, symbolising Basant. Dr Harpreet Singh, principal, GGNIMT, highlighted the relevance of Basant Panchami and said yellow colour holds great importance on this day as it symbolises prosperity, light, energy and optimism. BSc Fashion Technology 2nd semester students presented giddha on the occasion. Lakhwinder Singh, Harshdeep Singh, Himanshu, Kunal and Harsh Sharma of BCA 2nd semester won accolades for their splendid bhangra performance.

Meditation session held

A meditation session was held for faculty members and students by Bajaj College representatives from the “Temple of Inner Wisdom”. Master Minood guided everyone with breath meditation technique. He said our mind always keeps rushing behind thoughts of past and future and never thinks of present. Thus, it is important to increase concentration and productivity. He added that meditation can also help in curing long-term ailments. The entire session lasted for around two hours.

Condolences to CRPF jawans

A meeting was held at Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, to offer condolences to family members of CRPF jawans who laid down their lives in Pulwama terror attack. A two minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Girls excel in exams

Students of MA (Music Vocal) of Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana, brought laurels in exams. Kiranpreet Kaur stood first in the university by obtaining 84 per cent. Sonia ranked third in the university with 82 per cent. Gagandeep clinched eight rank in the varsity by obtaining 79 per cent.

Scientific competition held 

The Physics Society of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) organised various competitive events, including poster making, PowerPoint Presentation and model making. The key objective was to inculcate scientific aptitude among students. Principal Dr Mukti Gill inaugurated the event. BSc students presented models, inlcuding tesla coil, double slit experiment, Newton’s Craddle, li-fi system, hydraulic city, vacuum cleaner, steam generator, 3-D solar system and automatic street lights, among others. Students presented their ideas on Big Bang Theory, gravitational waves, radioactivity, inside story of carbon nanotubes, hidden personalities in development of science and electricity safety. Students made posters on the theme “Innovations in sciences”. TNS

Prize distribution function 

Khanna: Gobindgarh Public College, Alour, Khanna, organised its 15th annual prize distribution function at Kanhaya Lal Bardeja Lions Bhawan.  Desh Deepak Karir and Shashi Karir were the chief guests. Principal Neena Seth Pajni welcomed the chief guests and other delegates. Students presented a beautiful cultural programme. The Principal read out the annual report. She highlighted the contribution of the college in providing excellent opportunities for quality education. Students were awarded on the basis of their performance in the university as well as house exams, zonal and inter-zonal youth festival of Panjab University, Chandigarh. College Color was given to Gurleen Singh of B.Com-III (Boys), Simranjeet Kaur of BBA-III (Girls).  Highest attendance award was also given to students. Coaches of various games were honored. OC
