Book-review programme

Ludhiana: A book discussion programme was organised by the Mechanical Engineering Student Manch of Guru Nanak Engineering College under the movement ‘Pustak Prem Lehar’. During this, DIG Counter Intelligence, Chandigarh, Gurpreet Singh Toor’s book ‘Allarh Umraan Talakh Sunehe’ and the book ‘Giani Ditt te Sikh Masle’, edited by Inderjit Singh, was reviewed.  During the session, researcher Mehtab Singh Sandhawala, who came especially from Panjab University, read a paper on the overall aspects of the IPS Toor’s book followed by Toor himself, who read a keynote address over the book ‘Chewaan Dariya: Chunotia ate Hall’ which means ‘Sixth River: Challenges and Solutions’. He also interacted with the audience and answered their questions. Meanwhile, in the second session of the discussion programme, a researcher from Panjab University, Paramvir Singh, read a paper on the topic: ‘Khalsa Akhbar Lahore De Sampadki Lekha da Mojuda Sarokar’ meaning ‘The current impact of the editorial articles of Lahore Khalsa Newspaper’. Though the Sikh thinker S Parampal Singh shared his thoughts about Giani Ditt Singh’s Dalit sentiments with the audience, the readers afterwards shared their views on the book ‘Giani Ditt te Sikh Masle’.

Foundation day 

Mandi Ahmedgarh: Green Valley Public Senior Secondary School, Jandali Road, Ahmedgarh, celebrated its 16th foundation day with great enthusiasm and pomp and show. Constituents of the schools recited spiritual hymns of Sukhmani Sahib and prayed for the progress and success of institute.  President Tarsem Lal Gupta, vice-president Madan Mohan Kansal, Managing Director Yash Bhushan Gupta, director Shubham Gupta, manager Sonia Gupta, principal Kavita Kapoor and vice principal Ennu Bhalla urged parents of students and residents of the area to continue extending support to the institute so that quality education could be provided to their wards.

NSS camp

Ludhiana: The Malwa Central College of Education for Women is organising a 7-day NSS camp from January 6 to 12, 2019. The college has two and half units with total strength of 250 volunteers. The theme of the camp is ‘Healthy Youth for healthy India’. Students presented a brief about the NSS history and various activities to be performed during the seven days. An NSS newsletter was also released on the day to nurture the literary talent of the volunteers.
