Cold wave intensifies in Kullu, Lahaul

Cold wave conditions intensified further as higher reaches of the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Mandi districts received fresh snowfall on Friday. Lower regions witnessed incessant rain throughout the day.

The PWD and the HPSEB authorities are facing difficulty in restoring road connectivity and power supply in remote villages of these districts. National Highway-305, which connects Ani and Nirmand to Kullu has been shut for the past few days in the wake of heavy snowfall at Jalori Pass. Residents of these areas are travelling via Mandi or Shimla to reach Kullu.

In Lahaul-Spiti, vehicular movement has come to a standstill as the entire region is covered under a thick blanket of snow. — TNS
