CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed grief and shock over the demise of senior BJP leader and former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who breathed his last at AIIMS in Delhi today.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed grief and shock over the demise of senior BJP leader and former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who breathed his last at AIIMS in Delhi today.

In a condolence message issued here, Khattar said, “I am saddened and pained at the demise of Arun Jaitley. He was a great leader, orator, statesman and more than anything a true son of India. An era has ended. The demise of Jaitley is an irreparable loss to the BJP and Indian politics”.

Khattar conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul.

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Om Prakash Dhankar also expressed condolences on Jaitley’s death.

Two-day mourning 

The state government has decided to observe a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect to former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who passed away in New Delhi on Saturday. The National Flag will fly at half-mast on August 24 and 25 on all buildings in the state where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment. TNS
