CM launches 7 online services of Shimla MC

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today launched seven online billing, water and property tax payment services of Shimla Municipal Corporation, which have been developed by the Information Technology Department under e-district project.

The Chief Minister said with the launch of seven services as many as 59 services have been launched under e-district portal. The government is going to host 136 more services under the system during the next financial year 2019-2020.

Thakur also launched availability of ration card and copy parivar register through DigiLocker to the people of the state.

The residents can create their DigiLocker account either on internet at http://digilocker.gov.in or on mobile phones by downloading the mobile app for Android and iOS. Once the account is created, Aadhar number is to be linked and the documents can be downloaded by selecting the above departments from the list available in the DigiLocker, he explained.

There are 18,39,865 ration card holders and 16,91,275 families in the parivar register. The people can download their ration cards and copies of parivar registers on their mobiles and computers through their DigiLocker accounts.

The Chief Minister applauded the efforts of the departments and expressed his pleasure that the citizens would be benefitted from these services.

He also launched HIMSWAN dongle using private APN services for mobile operators.

Thakur said that all these services would go a long way in providing fast and effective services to the people of the state.

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation Kusum Sadrate, Director IT Rohan Chand Thakur, Director Rural Development Rakesh Kanwar, Municipal Commissioner Shimla Pankaj Rai and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
