Shimla, February 12

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said the Vidhan Sabha was the first hi-tech paperless Assembly.

He was addressing participants of the 34th International Training Programme in Legislative Drafting and Officers of the Lok Sabha here. The Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training is organising the programme under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation, in which 43 representatives from 27 countries are participating.

“The Himachal Assembly is a role model for others who are replicating our e-Vidhan model where the entire functioning is done online,” he said.

This initiative was appreciable as it had helped in saving huge expense on paper and unnecessary plying of vehicles during the session. The implementation of e-Constituency Management would prove a pragmatic step towards empowerment of MLAs using information technology, he added.

Speaker Rajiv Bindal said most of the participants were judicial officers, legal advisers, officers of Assemblies and MPs from Sudan. — TNS
