Yamunanagar, December 28
The regional office of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB), Yamunanagar, on Friday issued show-cause notices to the owners of 59 screening plants and two stone crushers, which were recently found operating illegally in the district.
The notices were issued under Section 33-A of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Section 31-A of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
Ashok Khetarpal, chairman of HSPCB, Panchkula, had formed three teams, which conducted inspection of the screening plants and stone crushers on December 19 and 20.
It was found that some of the screening plants were being run without obtaining consent to establish (CTE) and the others without getting consent to operate (CTO) from the regional office of the HSPCB, Yamunanagar.
Besides, the owners of the said plants didn’t install pollution-control devices.
